Abstract

Tourism has emerged as an important contributor to regional economic development, employment generation, cultural exchange, and infrastructure improvement across North India. The present study assesses tourism product offerings and visitor experiences across selected North Indian states, with particular emphasis on the diversity, quality, accessibility, and attractiveness of tourism resources. The study considers major tourism products, including cultural heritage, religious and pilgrimage tourism, nature-based tourism, adventure tourism, rural tourism, and leisure-oriented attractions. It further examines visitor experiences in terms of satisfaction, service quality, accessibility, hospitality, safety, cleanliness, destination image, and overall value. A comparative perspective is adopted to identify variations among states in their tourism potential and the effectiveness of tourism services and facilities. The study highlights that North Indian states possess considerable diversity in tourism products, but differences exist in infrastructure, destination management, promotion, connectivity, and service delivery. Visitor experiences are influenced not only by the attractiveness of destinations but also by the quality and consistency of supporting facilities. The findings emphasise the need for integrated tourism planning, improved infrastructure, sustainable destination management, digital promotion, skilled human resources, and stronger stakeholder participation. The study concludes that enhancing both tourism product offerings and visitor experiences can strengthen destination competitiveness and support sustainable tourism development across North India.
