Abstract

The main objective of this paper was to determine how shade percentage influences the quality of cotton knitted three-thread fleece and rib fabric. These qualities depend on various technical factors such as GSM (grams per square meter), CPI (courses per inch), WPI (wales per inch), shrinkage percentage, loop length, dyeing and finishing parameters, and color fastness properties of cotton knitted fabric. The cotton knitted bleached fabrics (three-thread fleece and rib) were dyed using reactive dyes and auxiliaries. Various properties such as GSM, CPI, WPI, and fastness properties of the fabric were then measured. It was observed that as the shade percentage increased on cotton knitted fabric, GSM, CPI, WPI, and shrinkage also increased. Both lengthwise and widthwise shrinkage occurred in all fabrics. Additionally, it was observed that with the increase in shade amount, the wash fastness and rubbing fastness of the cotton knitted fabric decreased.
