Abstract

A Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) integrates communication technologies, wearable devices, and implantable biosensors, supported by advances in embedded computing for the design, improvement, and deployment of body area networks. WBANs serve as intelligent wireless monitoring systems comprising wearable and implantable devices placed on or within the human body. These networks utilize low-power wireless body sensors connected to mobile users, enabling continuous monitoring of health and well-being, whether in hospitals or at home.

This paper focuses on developing an efficient node placement strategy for a Body Node Coordinator (BNC) within a WBAN. To achieve this, we propose three different BNC placement algorithms, each considering distinct options of energy-efficient routing protocols available for WBANs.
