Dietary Strategies for the Prevention and Management of Lifestyle-Related Diseases: A Review of Current Evidence

Lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers have become major public health concerns worldwide. The increasing prevalence of these conditions is largely attributed to unhealthy dietary habits, sedentary lifestyles, and rapid urbanization. Nutrition plays a crucial role in both the prevention and management of these diseases by influencing body weight, metabolic health, blood glucose regulation, and cardiovascular function. This review examines current evidence on effective dietary strategies, including the Mediterranean diet, DASH diet, plant-based diets, and high-fiber dietary patterns. These approaches have been shown to reduce disease risk, improve clinical outcomes, and enhance overall quality of life. The findings highlight that adopting balanced and sustainable dietary practices, along with healthy lifestyle behaviors, can significantly contribute to reducing the burden of lifestyle-related diseases and promoting long-term health.
